One of the first steps to planning your magical vacation is setting up your group in the My Disney Experience (MDE) app. But, as with any other part of the MDE app, things can get unnecessarily complicated, but we’ll walk you through it!
Adding Guests to your Friends & Family List
To make Park, Lightning Lane, and Dining Reservations, you’ll need to have all the members of your group on your Friends & Family list.
In the MDE app, go to the Menu ≡, scroll down toward the bottom, and press My Profile.
On the top, access the “Family & Friends List” tab.
Scroll down to the bottom and press “Add a Guest”.
Here, you will have 3 options to add guests to your list: find a connected guest, add your own, or scan a code.
If you see your guest listed below, select them and add them. This is the easiest way but guests you want to add may not always show up – especially if you do not have any mutual friends on the MDE app.
The second option, entering a guest’s name and age, creates a new guest under which you will manage (used for Children or Guests who don’t have their own MDE account).
The third option is to Scan their linking code. This option requires some coordination but is your only option if they do not appear as a connected Guest.
Adding Users using a Linking Code
First, have your friend get their Linking Code (Menu ≡ > My Profile > Show My Linking Code). It is a QR code with a manual six-digit alphanumeric code at the bottom.
Then, on your My Disney Experience app, select the option Scan a Linking Code. You can either scan their Linking Code or select the option to enter it manually.
Tip: If you cannot scan your friend’s code live, you can have them screenshot it and send it to another device that you can scan. An alternative is to use the manual six-digit code.
That’s it! You have now added your friend to your Family & Friends List. on your Family & Friends List, you will be able to see all your connected guests as well as manage the sharing options with each guest. You have the option to share all your plans or just plans that involve you both.
Note: Make sure all guests have tickets assigned to their MDE account – it doesn’t matter which account links the tickets but each guest must have a ticket. Then you will be able to add and make reservations for your whole party.
We hope this was useful in helping you add guests and make plans for your party. If you have any more questions, please feel free to check out our other posts or send us a message!
